FAQ

1.  I'm having trouble finding you.  Where are you located?  
Fenix Studios is located at 4442 Arthur Kill Road, Staten Island, NY, 10309, at the corner of Englewood and Arthur Kill Road.  We are very close to the Outerbridge Crossing.  From Staten Island: Exit at Bloomingdale Road (Exit 3) on the West Shore Expressway (440 South).  Turn right on Bloomingdale and then left on Arthur Kill Road.  Travel about four minutes until you see our building on the left, a large grey business building with the name of our upstairs' neighbor, "Reliable," in large red letters on top.  While pulling into the front parking lot, you will see the awning for our entrance.  Come inside, head straight to the back and you're in business! 


2.  What is the best way to contact you?  

Calling us is the best approach; our phone number is 718-227-2345.  You can leave a message during off hours and usually, someone on staff is around at odd times.  However, the best time to call is between the hours of 4-10PM, Monday-Friday.  You can also email us at fenixstudios@aol.com.


3. I'm taking public transportation.  What buses and trains are near you?  

The S74 bus drops you right on our doorstep.  The Staten Island train station is one mile down Arthur Kill Road at Nassau station.  Once off the train, walk out till you see Arthur Kill Road.  It's a 45 second walk to the road so, if you don't see it very soon, turn around!  On Arthur Kill Road, there will be a bus stop that can take you a mile up the road to us, or, if you want to burn off some calories, walk on over.  (Note: When you get off the train, you have to walk toward the bridge.  You will walk on Arthur Kill underneath the bridge and half a mile past it.)  
For travelers coming from Manhattan:
You can take the ferry, which has access to the Staten Island train (which is free).  Get off at the Nassau station and follow the directions for the train above.  
Estimated Travel Times:
Ferry Ride:
30 Minutes. Train Ride from Ferry to Nassau: 40 Minutes. 
Driving from Manhattan to Fenix Studios:
55 Minutes.
Driving from Brooklyn to Fenix Studios:
20 Minutes.  (Traffic will vary at times.)


4.  What should I bring to my rehearsal session?  

Drummers: Bring your sticks and crash cymbals.  If you prefer, you may bring as much of your own kit as you want.  Large setups can become time-consuming, so come prepared.  We provide all other drumming equipment.  If you have special needs, please let us know.  We are happy to assist.
All other musicians: We have amps for you, ready to go.  Please bring your instrument, a pick if appropriate, and a 1/4" wire to plug in.
Singers:
Just bring your personality.  We supply mics and a PA so everyone else will give you dirty looks unless you help carry their stuff.


5. What should I bring to my recording session?  

Bring the following: instruments, wires, lyrics, notes, drum sticks.  Clients usually use our supplied amps and drums; however, you may bring your own if that is your preference.


6. How does payment work?  
Payment works differently for rehearsal, recording, video shoots and green screen rental. 
Rehearsal:
If you're coming in for rehearsal, simply pay your owed amount at the end of your session.
Recording:
Recording requires a minimum 25% deposit to book your session and engineer.  This is to safeguard the studio against last minute cancellations, which cause problems not only for us but for our engineers, who schedule their days in advance.  Once your balance is paid, you are free to take your music home.
Green Room:
Video Sessions are to be paid on arrival and before any additional time requests.  
Video Shoots: Video Shoots must be paid as follows: 50% up front, 25% during the editing process and 25% at project's end.


7. What is your cancellation policy?  

Exceptions can be made for unfavorable weather conditions or true emergencies.  Please keep in mind that if a client calls with major emergencies twice or more in a row, we might become hesitant to book another session.  We are always honest and dependable; we hope that our clients will be the same and respect our booking process.
Rehearsals: We require 24 hours notice.  In the event of a same day cancellation, the client will owe half the price of the booked session.  If the client does not show, the client will owe the full price of the booked session.
Recording & Green Screen Rentals:  We require 48 hours notice for cancellation for recording sessions.  If a client cancels with less than 48 hours notice, his/her deposit will be lost.  Keep in mind a new deposit will have to be paid for an additional booking.
Video Shoots: We require 72 hours notice for cancellation for video shoots.   If a client cancels with less than 72 hours notice, his/her deposit will be lost.


8.  How is your security?  
With multiple alarm systems and a host of other protections and security measures, we are confident you and your party will be extremely comfortable.  Please be advised that on location you are under 24 hour video/audio surveillance.
